I started my career at Genentech, where I initially collected and washed labware across the campus. I then transitioned to the Cell Culture Manufacturing department, where I gained hands-on experience with bioreactors, filtration units, and columns on older, manual equipment, before automation became widespread. My background in high school auto and metal shop was invaluable during this time, allowing me to develop a deep understanding of how these systems operate. Learning on manual equipment has enhanced my troubleshooting skills and enabled me to effectively improve processes, which can be more challenging to learn with automated systems.
I have developed a strong emphasis on collaboration with manufacturing partners such as QA, QC, Facilities, Supply Chain, and Regulatory. I have played a key role in developing QA standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines, establishing a solid foundation for GMP practices. I ensured compliance with GMP and ICH standards through technical signoff on lot releases and oversaw both internal and contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) to guarantee adherence to compliance protocols through all stages of manufacturing from scale up, tech transfer, tox material, GMP clinical manufacturing, and GMP Commercial manufacturing.
My technical writing experience includes authoring hundreds of SOPs and batch records, as well as managing deviations and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs), alongside participation in numerous regulatory agency audits. With Lean Six Sigma Green and Black Belt certifications, I have a proven history of implementing process improvements across various functions including manufacturing, supply chain, QA, QC, and warehousing. I am truly passionate about manufacturing excellence and innovation.
